About Chef Daniele Catalani

Born in the town of Pistoia in Tuscany, Italy, Daniele Catalani moved to Washington, DC at the age of 20 with a lifetime of culinary education behind him. He arrived in the United States after fine-tuning his culinary skills working in restaurants throughout Europe, in Basil, London, Paris and Cannes. In October 1999, he began working with world-renowned chef Roberto Donna at the award winning Galileo Restaurant in Washington, DC. There, Daniele gained a strong following in the DC metropolitan area, cooking for political heavyweights and Hollywood celebrities.

Daniele was also a participant in 2003 on the famous Food Network show, “Iron Chef America”, in the battle of Donna vs. Morimoto. At the age of twenty-three, Daniele became the exclusive chef at Galileo. In 2006, Chef Catalani moved on to consult restaurants in the Washington metro area. He also started his own catering company, Toscana Catering, which offers a variety of catering for everything from large law firms and businesses to private events.

In July 2009, Chef Catalani opened Toscana Cafe on Capitol Hill, to rave reviews in the Washington Post, Washington Times and Hill Rag.
